What I’m listening to: Valentine’s Day Edition

noun: love; plural noun: loves
1.an intense feeling of deep affection.

Well here we are everyone, it’s officially the month of love. After what felt like the longest January ever we have been flying through the second month of the year. We’re about halfway through the month, and today is a special day. It’s Valentines Day! The day dedicated to showing love to those you care about.

I’m not one of those who gets really into the holiday, but I think it can be fun to celebrate. I love seeing all of the decorations, cards, and more that come out at the store. It’s just nice to have something as kind of a pick me up after January.

Since I’m single I normally use my Valentine’s Day to do something nice for others in my life. Not normally anything big, but just something to show those that I love that I thought of them. I also treated myself to a Valentines gift this year. If you viewed the pic at the top of the page you’ll see my gift. I went to Walmart a few weeks ago, and was walking through the Valentine’s section when something caught my eye. There was this black and white stuffed dog that made me think so much of my sweet puppers, and well I had to have him. So it was settled I treated myself to the cute stuffed animal, and some chocolate covered pretzels. It was fun, gave me a smile, and made me happy!

With it being the month of love I’ve found myself listening to my love playlist quite often (You can check it out here), and I thought I’d share a few of my favorites from the playlist with you.

To start things off I have to start with one of my top favorite artists! Not only is he one of my favorite musicians out there, but he’s also a part of one of my favorite couples. If you’ve read any of my other posts you may know who I’m talking about. If you haven’t, then first off welcome to my page, and second I’m talking about the great Johnny Cash. I love him as an artist and as a person. I also LOVE Johnny and June together! They’re one of my favorite couples out there to be honest. So with all that being said here is one of my favorite Cash songs and favorite love songs.

Rose of my Heart by Johnny Cash

I feel like the best way to follow up after Johnny is to share another favorite artist of mine. I’ve said before that this next artist can’t write a bad song, and he’s really great at writing love songs. In fact, I’d say most of my favorite love songs are probably done by this artist. Anyone who has known me for a while knows that I used to swear I was going to marry Hunter Hayes. Honestly not much has changed if he ever wanted to hang I’d definitely be down! He seems like he’d be a cool dude, but for now I’ll just enjoy giving his love songs a spin. It’s hard to pick a favorite as I love them all, but here’s one of my current favorites!

This Girl by Hunter Hayes

While I’m still in the country genre of music I feel next up should be a song by one of my other favorite country couples. Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans are both artists with some phenomenal music but when you put the two together it’s magic. Recently I’ve been obsessed with this song that they did together. I can’t stop listening to it!

Dance With Me by Morgan Evans (ft. Kelsea Ballerini).

Now this next song is one of those songs that I feel has to be on everyone’s love playlists. It’s honestly iconic! It’s beautiful, and it’s from one of my favorite series out there. It played a large role in the Twilight world, and years later I still adore it. So of course A Thousand Years has to make an appearance. It would be wrong not to include it!

A Thousand Years by Christina Perri

Another artists with some pretty iconic love songs would be the one and only Taylor Swift. She has so many to choose from, and while I’d love to share them all I’ll just go with one. It seems too obvious to do “Today was a Fairytale” since it was in Valentine’s Day. “Love Story” has seen popularity since the moment it came out. I think I’ll go with one of her more recent ones that is at the top of my list. I just love the simplicity to it!

New Years Day by Taylor Swift

We’re getting close to the end of this post, but I have a couple more to add. This next one isn’t really a love song, but it’s so relatable. Literally feel like it should be my theme song or something. It also mentions Valentine’s Day so I feel like it has to be added. So check out 1-800-dateme by mxmtoon.

I feel like I could go on and on with love songs as there are so many great ones out there, but I feel it’s time to wrap it up. So I’ll end with 2 favorites of mine that comes from my favorite Disney movie/Broadway play. I really don’t think I could do a post about love songs and not include something from Beauty and the Beast. While “Beauty and the Beast” is a phenomenal song I feel that “Something There” is often overlooked. Also I’m still upset that “If I Can’t Love Her” didn’t end up in the movie. So here’s one of my favorites from the Broadway play and one of my favorites from the movie.

Something There from Beauty and the Beast

If I Can’t Love Her from Beauty and the Beast

  • Something to Believe in from Newsies
  • Can I have This Dance? from High School Musical

  • How Would You Feel by Ed Sheeran
  • I Was Made For Loving You by Tori Kelley (Ft. Ed Sheeran)

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Whether you’re in a relationship or not I hope you have a lovely day, and show some love to someone. Whether it’s someone you know or a stranger. Even something as simple as a smile could make a person’s day. So use this day and every day to be nice to those you encounter, and spread the love. I hope you enjoyed the songs I’ve shared today, and as I’ve already said if you’re looking for more feel free to check out my playlist here. I’d love to hear what you’re favorite love song so feel free to share in the comments below! Have a great day!
